Kiara Style October 2009

You may not have heard of some of the designers, but Kiara Boutique is aiming to breathe new life into the North East style scene by offering clothes not found anywhere else in Britain.

The brainchild of professional singer Ciara Duffy, 25, with the help of her father, regional businessman Maurice Duffy, the boutique aims to offer international style from Italy, North Korea, Denmark and Belgium.

The store, in Hood Street, Newcastle, where Vivienne Westwood also has a boutique, offers casual, smart and bridalwear.

Alex Morris, formerly of Eden Concept Store in Jesmond, and who has a strong background in retail, has also come on board in the new venture.

Ciara says: ''The designs are not stocked anywhere else in the UK. We have designs that will appeal to the older market as well as the younger, unusual knitwear and each designer has their own individual strength and quirkiness. They all do something different which makes them their signature. One of the designers does knitwear which is timeless and lasts for ages. Our bridalwear is completely different too. If you go into a bridal shop in the UK it's very unlikely you will find anything similar. Again, it's a range that fits everybody from slim to curvy. It's unusual and you wont find it anywhere else.''

Here is a round up of what designers are on offer at Kiara-

  •

Alessandra Marchi - extremely individual, attention to detail, couture element to it, only natural fabrics (silk, linen, wool, cashmere, cotton), unusual bridal and evening wear aswell as quirky knitwear, designed and manufactured in Italy.
